Jojoba (pronounced 'ho-ho-ba') is actually a wax which is liquid at room temperature and for this reason has a longer shelf life than other carriers.
The chemical structure is very similar to the skins own oil secretion called sebum.
As well as moisturising the skin it also unclogs the pores which makes it invaluable when dealing with combination skin.
