Tea Tree oil comes from a small tree which is indiginous to New South Wales. It grows to about 20 feet and thrives in marshy areas though now cultivated in plantations. Tea Tree oil is only produced in Australia.

The Australian Aboriginies have long recited the benefits of Tea Tree, using the leaves to cure infected wounds. It was not until 1927 that the European chemists noted the excellent antiseptic qualities for which Tea Tree is famed.

During World War 2, bottles of Tea Tree oil were included in Military aid kits in tropical area and munition factories to treat skin conditions.

Though relatively new to the aromatherapy scene, Tea Tree's popularity has grown from strength to strength.
